STORIES NORTH PROGRAMS

Dear Old Crow! We were so honoured to spend time with you. Boat rides out to a fish camp, harvesting blueberries and learning that culture and language live together. This is a community that taught us the value of people working together.

We will never forget our visit to the site of a former residential school, where trauma still haunts and hurts but where a spirit of resilience seeks new purpose in the soil and nearby streams. The stories of this summer extend to Carcoss, Dawson, Whitehorse and Atlin B.C.

Something akin to magic happens when you approach people with open hearts, open minds and no preconceptions. As we travelled around the territory we worked to reflect communities back to themselves and to show people what we saw and heard. We challenged assumptions. We learned to hold space. We learned that there is wonder in the breath of curiosity.
